Erratic form cost us title - Howarth

Kidderminster assistant boss Neil Howarth has admitted Harriers' own erratic form is the reason why they are not title challengers this season.

Harriers saw league leaders Burton pull 13 points clear of the chasing pack with victory at Grays, while their own position weakened with a surprise defeat at home to Weymouth.

Stuart Beavon's double for the visitors and an under-par Aggborough display saw them join Crawley as the only team in the top six that failed to win.

It was only their second league defeat on home turf this season but it looks as if the title is too far away from Howarth's side - an 18-point gap from just equaling the leaders.

Of more worry, Harriers' dropped out of the promotion places in defeat. It is a watertight promotion place, of which the team have been a prominent fixture recently.

A win on Saturday at Barrow could out them straight back in it, but Howarth concedes an opportunity has been missed.

He said: "We have had the chance of moving up the table a couple of places. It's happened a couple of times this season where we've been given a chance to put down a marker in the league.

"Nobody's talking about us or mentioning us catching Burton and perhaps this is the reason. Whenever we get into this position to be able to close the gap, we don't seem to do it."
