Brindley: Repeat the Telford factor
Stafford manager Chris Brindley has urged his side to recreate the Telford factor when they go to Hinckley tomorrow (3pm).
Rangers return to Blue Square North action at the De Montfort Park Stadium, for the first time since their epic win at their local rivals on New Years Day.
They face another side chasing promotion and the Knitters' need to pick up something, as they sit six points off the play-off's with four games in hand.
Dean Thomas' side will see Stafford as an ideal opponent - despite just three points separating the sides - for them to do that.
For Brindley, if his side can repeat the effort and gusto displayed at the New Bucks Head, Rangers' will give the home side plenty to think about.
He said: "The players have worked hard this week. The challenge to the lads now is to play to the level of the game at Telford week in, week out. That starts at Hinckley. It is not just about a one-off game, it is about doing it consistently.
"We have a nine-point buffer between ourselves and the relegation places, so our aim should be to keep that buffer as big as possible. If we are not winning many games or picking up many points, then the gap will obviously close.
"That was the danger and still is the danger."
Brindley knows the size of the task facing his side in Leicestershire, against a team who know what it takes to be promotion challengers in the Blue Square North.
United were beaten play-off finalists in 2007, before a dreadful campaign last term saw them finish a lowly 19th.
That is a position Rangers would probably settle for after a troubled period but Brindley wants his side to do a job come Saturday afternoon.
He said: "It has always been a hard game at Hinckley. They are always in the top six or seven, they are not quite there yet but have the games in hand to really challenge this year. They had a really bad season last time and are bouncing back.
"We have just got to go there and get stuck in. They won't make it easy for us as the home side and we need to make it as difficult for them as we possibly can. We will give it our best shot.
"It is a tough league, a highly competitive league. There are no easy places to go."
