The club can also confirm a high-profile brand-new signing is expected to fall into place within the next 48 hours.

Piszcz won the club's most entertaining rider award at the end of a short spell last season, as he quickly won over the BRC Roofing Brummies fans.

His all-action style saw him pile up the points and he finished with an impressive 8.34 average including bonus points – but he'll start the season on 7.11, as he didn't complete 12 matches for a new average.

He said: "I feel Birmingham and the British Premier League are good for me. I'm happy to have agreed everything with Mr Drury, the manager.

"I always try my best and the crowd are kind to me there. I hope we can have a safe season and enjoy some success as a club."

Piszcz joins skipper Jason Lyons, Aussie duo Robert Ksiezak and Richard Sweetman and talented British youngster Ben Taylor in the 2009 Perry Barr side.
