Stourbridge 1 Stalybridge 6
Stourbridge's FA Trophy adventure came to a halt as the superior attacking quality of their Blue Square North opponents saw them run out convincing winners.
The Glassboys showed up well in the opening stages, with Leon Broadhurst glancing a header over bar Drew Canavan's cross, but the visitors then moved up a gear to begin to ask questions of the home defence.
Michael Byrne fired just wide of the far post, before Glassboys keeper Lewis Solly denied Chris Williams and Andy Smart.
But the goal the visitors had threatened arrived on 23 minutes, when Ellington fired home at the second attempt.
Stalybridge added a second after 28 minutes courtesy of a stunning 40-yard effort from Terry Barwick. Stourbridge pulled a goal back when Canavan netted from close range.
Hopes of a Stourbridge rally were ended with an hour gone, when Matty Barlow made it 3-1.
Another superb goal in the 67th minute from the visitors then put the result beyond doubt, as Steve Torpey hit a sublime shot from just outside the area.
Stalybridge added two goals in the last five minutes through Barlow and then Nicky Platt.
