Harriers joy at Sky Blues draw

Kidderminster manager Mark Yates has reacted to his side's FA Cup third-round pairing with Coventry by warning the Championship club: "Bring it on!"

Saturday's 2-0 victory over Unibond League Curzon Ashton earned Harriers a place in yesterday's draw and they were rewarded with a Midlands derby at the Ricoh Arena.

It is the first time the Aggborough club have made it to the third round since the 2003-04 season, when they faced Wolves.

"There will be nothing expected of us," said Yates. "We will be going out there trying to get something out of the game.

"They will have to fall short of their best and we will have to raise our game but we've seen plenty of Cup shocks down the years. We won't be going there just for the day out.

"It's something the club has to aspire to every season.

"Hopefully we can take a big support with us."

The victory saw cash-strapped Harriers earn another £30,000, taking their earnings from this season's run to £62,500.

A win over the Sky Blues would add a further £75,000 to the pot and chairman Barry Norgrove admits that would relieved the club's financial worries for next season too.

"I've had my Christmas present early this season," said Norgrove.

"The money we have made from Saturday's win is a big lift.

"At the end of October the board had to pay the wages and it was hand-to-mouth, but the money we made in the previous rounds has helped clear the bills.

"Now we've made an extra £30,000 from beating Curzon and will also make more from our cut of the gate receipts at Coventry.

"In the end we might make £100,000 out of this run.

"But if we make it through to the fourth round then the money we earn from that may tide us over for next season as well."
