Yates coy on striker recall
Kidderminster manager Mark Yates remains coy on whether he will recall Matthew Barnes-Homer for Saturday's FA Cup tie with Curzon Ashton.
Kidderminster manager Mark Yates remains coy on whether he will recall Matthew Barnes-Homer for Saturday's FA Cup tie with Curzon Ashton.
The manager sprung a surprise by resting the striker for the 1-0 defeat at Oxford on Tuesday night, even with fellow hot-shot partner Justin Richards out with an eye injury.
The duo have 20 goals between them - Barnes-Homer alone has eight - but Darryl Knights and Stefan Moore were preferred at the Kassam Stadium, although both drew a blank.
Yates has since revealed that he rested the striker to help him recover from a few "bumps and bruises" and now believes he will back at full pelt on Saturday.
That said, it may not be from a starting position.
The Harriers boss said: "Matthew has had a long season so far, so the time off in midweek just gave him a bit of time to sort a few niggles out. I expect him to back in contention for Saturday.
"That said, Darryl and Stefan both did well at Oxford, although we lost and they didn't score. But they did enough to show me they will also be in contention for Saturday.
"I have decisions to make, although they are welcome decisions to make in this case."
