Maison happy with sneak attack

Cautious Halesowen boss Morell Maison insists he is happy sneaking up behind the leading pack as his side go in search of a third straight league win.

The Yeltz entertain Yate Town, after victories over Hitchin and Mangotsfield in the past week left them in fifth place.

But Maison is loath to say whether his side are on a roll, and about to make their bid for top spot in the Southern League Premier Division.

He said: "Three points would see us sneak into fourth spot and be four points off the leaders, which is a good place to be.

"If you sneak in behind the pack then people may not take notice of you. Corby and Farnborough are everyone's favourites and I don't know where Merthyr have found their form from."

Aaron Cornwall is suspended and Justin Rowe has tendonitis but otherwise Maison has a fully-fit squad to chose from.

He said: "They are very similar to Mangotsfield and Hitchin, they are very durable. They will be strong, big, aggressive and will work hard and be in your face.

"They are one of those teams whose position isn't quite the truth. They are a better team than their position suggests."

The club will also hold a collection for Doug Stenson, managing director of sponsors Sandvik, who died last week.
