Stourbridge 3 Bedford 1

Stourbridge climbed off the bottom of the British Gas Premier with this gutsy win.

Stourbridge won at Buxton for the second time in a week to add an FA Trophy win to their FA Cup victory.

Gary Hackett's side deservedly drew first blood on 13 minutes, Nathan Bennett finding the net with a bullet header from a Les Hines corner.

On half an hour, Ashley Langford hit a low angled shot that keeper Armitt could only push aside. Robinson gathered the rebound and his shot beat the keeper, but Jon Darby was back on the line to clear.

After that escape, Bedford began to come more into the picture and they got back on level terms ten minutes before the interval through Alaa Oujdi, whose 25-yard low drive proved too good for Solly.

After Bedford's Jamie Gould had scraped the bar for the visitors, the introduction of Linden Dovey paid off for the Glassboys.

Within minutes he was sent tumbling inside the box by a mistimed tackle from Rob Miller and Les Hines sent the keeper the wrong way with his spot-kick.

Stourbridge made sure of the spoils with eight minutes to go. Langford threaded the ball inside a Bedford defender and into the run of Slater, who duly pulled the ball back low for Leon Broadhurst to tuck home.
