Albion remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League after a home defeat to Chelsea.

After defeats to Liverpool and Manchester United in recent weeks, Tony Mowbray's men were given another tough lesson about life in the top flight at the hands of the Stamford Bridge side.

Two goals by Nicolas Anelka and another by Jose Bosingwa did the damage for the visitors.

Albion did not drop their work rate but Mowbray's men were unable to stop Chelsea going back to the top of the division.

Chelsea defender Jose Bosingwa opened the scoring on 34 minutes, cutting in to fire his shot into the top corner.

Four minutes later Anelka lifted the ball over Carson for a second.

In first half injury time, he made it 3-0 by latching on to Salomon Kalou's pass to score his eighth Premier League goal in four outings.

Filipe Teixeira over for Albion while Ishmael Miller had a decent chance but the home side still drew a blank.

They have now failed to score in any of their meetings with the "big four" but Mowbray will be looking ahead to the imminent away encounters with Stoke and Wigan as being key to Albion's survival plans.

The home fans did not get on the backs of the players, supporting them until the final whistle even though the visitors had dropped down a gear after taking the three goal advantage.
