Hackett upbeat despite status

While Gary Hackett experiences his first season at the bottom of the league, the Stourbridge boss is enjoying the challenge.

Stourbridge won at Buxton for the second time in a week to add an FA Trophy win to their FA Cup victory.

Hackett's men entertain Bedford Town looking to erase the disappointment of Tuesday's 2-0 defeat at home to Evesham from their minds.

It meant they were left rooted to the bottom of the Southern League Premier Division but Hackett is enjoying the toughest test of his managerial career.

He said: "We are down at the bottom and I have never been in this position before. You don't want to be down at the bottom but it is at exciting to the point where, if you get three wins, you are looking at a completely different picture."

Hackett admitted he was on the lookout for new strikers because of their lack of firepower, which has seen them score just 14 goals in their 14 league games.

He also knows the decent strikers will cost money which the Glassboys don't have.
