The Yeltz were looking to bounce back from a recent dip in form and made an upbeat start with Mark Danks striking just over the bar after just 20 seconds.

Halesowen gave themselves an uphill task, after Boro snatched the winning goal on 18 minutes when Mark Gamble headed on for Michael Charles to net from 15 yards.

From then on, Halesowen played well but found it difficult to break down a well-drilled Farnborough defence that has only conceded eight league goals and remain unbeaten away all season.

Halesowen's best chance fell on 42 minutes, when Darren Caskey curled in a direct 25-yard free-kick against the underside of the crossbar.

The Yeltz' Dean Smith flashed a header just over the bar, while substitute Zema Abbey volleyed just over the bar on the hour.

Halesowen piled on the late pressure but Farnborough's rearguard held firm, with goalkeeper Lyall Beazley doing well to keep out several dangerous crosses.

Bussey then denied Leigh Rumbold with a good save.
