Rangers scored three in the league for the first time this season in a 3-0 win at Gainsborough Trinity, after going three league games without a goal heading into the match at the Northolme.

Bobby Wilson's free-kick, David McNiven's penalty rebound and Tom Ingram's tap in put that one to bed and expectations will be high when Rangers are back on home soil, with Fleetwood the visitors on Saturday.

Bully was pleasantly surprised with what turned out to be an easy win against Trinity.

He said: "I went to Gainsborough thinking that I would glad to get away with a point against a big, strong physical side. To go there and beat them by three goals was fantastic.

"It was superb and hopefully this show a few people that we can score goals. It is disappointing that we haven't produced a performance like this at home, but I will take an away win any day.

"Any team that can win a fair amount of away games will have a good chance of challenging."

Three points for Rangers puts them back in the promotion race, just two points from the play-off places. More will be needed to get firmly in and amongst it, but stopping the rot was the key for Stafford after three straight defeats.

But Bully knows his side need to go on a run.

He said: "It is very tight in the league at the moment, so we are only another run away from the top. If you look at the table now, we are only eight points off the top of the table.

"If people think that is a disastorous position to be in, then there is something wrong. Hopefully more wins will lift the spirits in the camp a little bit, now we have got the monkey off our backs of three defeats in league and cup."
