Albion midfielder Robert Koren has admitted "I must get better" as he targets a return to the scoresheet.
Koren delivered a frank assessment of his form in his first Premier League campaign as he prepares for the Hawthorns clash with Blackburn.
The Slovenia captain predicted he will improve, after a pre-season knee injury hampered his preparations for the biggest year of his career.
He said: "It is always difficult when you get injured but I am not looking for excuses. I know I need to be better and same goes for some other players.
"We are here as a team and we need to do well as a team. If we do that results will come. I'm not looking for excuses about being injured but it's not easy and I got injured just before the season.
"That is behind me now and I'm just focused on doing well for the team and getting results. I knew after last season that this would be another step and a different level.
"So far as a team we have shown we can compete at this level. There are just small things that we need to be better at defensively and offensively.
"We have shown that we can knock the ball around and are not a bad team but we need to get as many points as possible. We need to stick together and keep going."
Koren reckons a return to full fitness should also help him boost his scoring return, as he looks for his first Premier League goal having notched 10 times last season.
He said: "Last season I got many goals and unfortunately this season I haven't scored yet in the Premier League."
