Martin RileyKidderminster manager Mark Yates has challenged defender Martin Riley to make himself a regular fixture in the absence of suspended first-choice Luke Jones.

The former Wolves youngster has had to wait patiently while Jones, a fellow summer signing but known to the fans from a loan spell with Shrewsbury last season, established himself in central defence.

That was until Jones got himself sent off for violent conduct in the FA Cup win at Kings Lynn last weekend, with Riley impressing as a sub in his absence.

Yates has now confirmed that Riley will start alongside Mark Creighton against Grays on Saturday, with further chances to impress looming, as Jones must also sit out Tuesday's Setanta Shield clash at Burton and the FA Cup tie against Cambridge on Saturday week.

Riley has been told to make the most of the chance he has been looking for.

Yates said: "Martin did very well when he replaced Luke in the last match, so now he will get his chance. He has been desperate to get in and, to Luke's misfortune, he now has.

"Thats the way it is in football. One person's misfortune is another person's fortune. When opportunity calls, you have to try and take it.

"Martin has been waiting patiently for his chance to play and now he has it, it is up to him to stay in the side.

"I hope to have a welcome headache trying to pick between the two when Luke returns."
