The teenager, who has played just a couple of reserve and Academy games for the Potters this season, will replace Tom Thorley, who heads back to the Britannia stadium today at the end of his loan period.

Grocott was due to join Rangers in September, when the move was put ice, but Bull is hoping he can add some punch to a forward line which failed to score against bottom of the table Hucknall last night.

"Mark is a different type of player to Tom – he'll be there to support the front men," said a disappointed Bull, as Rangers lost more ground on their promotion rivals.

"It's very frustrating. It all boils down to chances, eight in the first half alone – you have to take them.

"We haven't got the hunger or desire to score goals and that's down to individuals, not the way we play. It just seems as though no-one wants to score," he said.

Rangers are now preparing to face Steve Burr's Stalybridge Celtic (away) on Saturday.
