Bedford 1 Halesowen 0

Battling Bedford's first-half goal was enough as Halesowen disappointed again on their travels.

The Yeltz squandered their best chance after only three minutes, when Jermaine Palmer was put clear in a one on one with keeper Mike Armitt but was thwarted.

The Eagles then took charge, despite being forced to reshuffle their defensive pack, after central defender Stuart Wall was carried off after 15 minutes.

Debutant Halesowen goalkeeper Chris Sanna could do little about the only goal of the game in the 20th minute.

Jamie Gould and Aaran Cavill combined well down the right to set up Andrew Phillips, who found the net from 10 yards.

The second half faded out with frustrated Halesowen failing to really trouble a resolute home defence.

Halesowen: Sanna; Smith (Dykes 72), Cowley, Kemp, Hoyte, Briscoe, Denny, Caskey (Danks 83), Palmer (Abbey 65), Rowe, Cornwall.
