Harriers sit in the lofty heights of second place after 12 games, having won their last four games, with Saturday's 3-2 win at promoted Eastbourne the latest triumph in their second away win of the campaign.

They could have even been top of the table, for the first time during Yates spell in charge, if Crawley had endured a comprehensive loss against Kettering.

In fact, the Harriers have not been league leaders in the top tier of non-league football since they were crowned champions in 2000.

That could still happen on Saturday, with Harriers hosting promoted Barrow boasting an unbeaten home record, while Crawley face a tough trip to Burton Albion.

For Yates, it is an exciting time to be the boss.

He said: "There was nothing we could do about not being top, so I am not bothered about that. We just need to concentrate on ourselves and keep grinding results out.

"It is nice to be up there but we need to be there after 46 games. We need to tackle what is in front of us each and every week. So far we have done that.

"The team are doing very well and it time we are enjoying at the moment."
