Russell was the longest-serving Harriers player, with over four years service, before the Kingston-upon-Hull born midfielder was allowed to to return to his roots to sign for the Ministermen in late August.

He will have the unfamiliar experience of the visitors changing room on his first visit back, although manager Mark Yates and the Harriers faithful will be welcoming to a player who made 154 appearances in a Harriers shirt.

Yates said: "We now what Simon is about and he is a very good player. He was a great servant to this football club and I shall shake him warmly by the hand when I see him. Hopefully, he will not enjoy his first journey back at Aggborough.

"But it is more important that we get three points."

The Harriers needed a 94th minute goal to secure their first away win of the season at Weymouth at the weekend. At home, they are more formidable, with just two points dropped in five games so far.

He said: "If we turn up and show the quality that we have of late, then we can beat York. They have been the draw specialists and have some good players, so we will have to be at our best.

"We were fortunate to get the three points at Weymouth, but there have been away games where we should have got something and didn't, so these things work themselves out."
