The 22-year-old has been in relatively profilic mood this term. Goals in his last three games have put him on five goals from seven starts - almost on a par with six league goals from the whole of last season.
Barnes-Homer is noticing the difference.
He said: "We have a good quality squad now. You know, as a player, if you are not at the top of your game then someone can come in and replace you. If they do well, then you have lost it.
"You have to be on your game everytime you go out there."
Strike partner Justin Richards, who looked to be on his way out of Aggborough in the summer, also has five goals, making them one of the most profilic partnerships in the Blue Square Premier so far.
They clearly like playing together - they have both been on the scoresheet on more than occasion this term.
He said: "It is going good between me and Justin. We have played a lot together last season, although it was mainly for the reserves, so we know what each other are about.
"I do set myself a goals target at the start of this season but I keep that to myself. I just want to keep playing and keep getting on the scoresheet."
