Stourbridge 0 Rainworth 0

If the Glassboys are to make it into the next round of the FA Cup, they are now going to have to do it the hard way following a disjointed performance against their Northern Counties East League Division One opponents at Amblecote.

Stourbridge won at Buxton for the second time in a week to add an FA Trophy win to their FA Cup victory.

Stourbridge now travel to Rainworth tomorrow for a replay (Kick-off 7-45pm).

For much of the game, the visitors from Nottinghamshire gave as good as they got. Although Stourbridge can point to two great chances in the closing stages that were squandered, a late goal would have been harsh on Rainworth.

Rainworth were first to threaten after seven minutes when Alan Jeffries found Phil Massingham, who struck a volley narrowly wide from the left-hand side of the box.

After a sluggish start from Gary Hackett's men, some better play in the 23rd minute saw a good run from Calum Martin open up the visitors' defence.

He played a short pass inside to Keith Rostill, who in turn laid the ball off to Leon Broadhurst, who drilled his shot inches wide from just outside the area.

Stourbridge might well have gone ahead three minutes after the restart, but Martin pushed the ball wide from a tightish angle.

Rainworth twice went close themselves to a goal with Massingham on 69 minutes hooking an overhead volley over the bar.

Two late opportunities might have seen Stourbridge snatch an undeserved win.

In the 84th minute Rock, slipped a neat angled pass into the path of Broadhurst but he drove his shot wide and then in stoppage time Rock failed to trouble the keeper.
