Spalding 1 Rushall Olympic 0
Profligacy in front of goal once more cost Rushall Olympic in a game that the visitors should have had wrapped up well before the Tulips' 84th-minute winner.
In the 23rd minute, a good ball forward picked out Nathan Lamey on the right edge of the box. He neatly flicked it over Spalding keeper Luke McShane but also narrowly wide of the upright.
Near the half-hour mark, a good break by Dave Haywood down the left saw him pick out Paul Szewczyk, who hit a goal-bound drive that United's stopper could only parry into the path of Richard Beale. The midfielder's first-time strike from 25 yards flew inches wide.
Tony Breeden saved the Pics in the 40th minutes, when he raced off his line to intercept Martin Wormall's effort.
Another powerful shot from Lamey had the home custodian well beaten, but not for the first time the effort flew inches wide.
Five minutes into the second half Haywood broke down the left, before cutting inside and hitting a drive that McShane needed two attempts to tame.
In the 56th minute, Lamey found himself clean through but proceeded to spoon his shot way over the bar.
Five minutes later and this time Lamey raced down the left channel, beating two defenders and curling a low drive around the keeper, only to see it strike the post.
In the 63rd minute, Szewczyk also hit the woodwork.
Then Breeden rushed out looking to intercept the ball, only to make a hash of his clearance and present Ricky Miller with the simplest of chances in front of an open goal.
