Meir KA 1 Halesowen Town 1

Embarrassed Halesowen just avoided a major Cup upset after Midland Combination Meir held an unlikely lead for most of the first half.

Livewire home striker Nathan Chin-Shaw gave an early warning by breaking clear in the second minute.

Wasteful Halesowen should have made the game safe early on but Dean Brennan scooped over the bar from just three yards, while Justin Rowe poked wide after working clear on goal.

Over 80 league places separate the two sides in the non-league pyramid but the Kings took a shock 12th minute lead.

Indecision between defender Tom Kemp and debut goalkeeper James Russell allowed Ryan Miszkiel to nip in and slot home.

The Yeltz failed to make any real impression from several corners. It was troublesome Chin-Shaw who almost increased Meir's lead down the right, to force a 37th minute corner, before repeating the trick two minutes later to strike the side-netting.

Halesowen's embarrassment was eventually partly spared when Rowe smashed a close range equaliser into the roof of the net, from Aaron Cornwall's 50th minute cross.

Man-of-the-match Amison also made several fine saves to secure Meir's draw. The in-form goalkeeper kept out Rowe's header and Alex Cowley's long range effort.
