The striker pounced in the 22nd minute, to join fellow front-runner Justin Richards as Harriers' joint leading scorer with five.

It was also Barnes-Homer's fourth goal in five games, as Kidderminster made it four successive wins and a draw from their opening five home matches.

Richards, who had a loan spell at Oxford last season, played a major role in setting up the winner which lifted Harriers into ninth spot.

Delighted boss Mark Yates said: "The goal was superb. You won't see a better goal. They're two big, strong, powerful boys and they're doing the business at the moment."

Shortly before Barnes-Homer struck Harriers had an effort from Mark Creighton cleared off the line by former Aggborough midfielder Adam Murray.

A few minutes after the opener, Richards had a headed 'goal' disallowed for offside.

Kidderminster were also heavily indebted to goalkeeper Adam Bartlett during the first period, when he pulled off a couple of excellent saves to prevent Lewis Haldane from scoring with two fierce drives.

Skipper Creighton was a tower of strength in an impressive display by the back four, while the alert Bartlett made another crucial save shortly after the interval to thwart Murray.

Both sides had chances to score in the closing stages.
