The Harriers welcome Rushden & Diamonds to Aggborough tomorrow (3pm), hoping to build on four points gained over the last two games, much improving their tally to five.

Most of the talk at clubs up and down the country is who will be coming in, although Harriers fans should not expect a rush at the entrance before the transfer window slams shut at the end of play on Monday.

That said, Yates is not ruling out a new face either, with the Harriers already a midfielder down after Simon Russell signed for York.

He said: "We will just have to see what happens over the next couple of days. We are always looking to improve the squad. We have got a lot of midfielders anyway, so replacing Simon is not one of the main problems. But we have not stopped looking for players, by any means.

"The time was right to let Simon go. He was offered the security of a two-year deal at York, which is closer to his hometown of Hull. We felt it was it time to freshen things up. He left with my thanks - he was a good servant to the club."

Harriers face a Rushden side smarting from the loss of their unbeaten start against Histon, after finishing with nine men in a 2-1 defeat. They have yet to be beaten in their two away games thus far.

Yates said: "We are looking forward to the game. They are a big strong side who have spent a lot of money on players and its going to be hard. We know that but if we want to keep our run going, we have to rise to the challenge.

"We have two tough home games over the next week. Teams don't come any tougher than Rushden and then Torquay on Thursday. But we have confidence now and we need to perform like we have done over the past two games."
