The 19-year-old joined the Harriers for an initial month just before the season opener against Lewes, a deal that was due to expire next week, although the prospect of a long-term was welcomed by both parties should he impress.

Impress he has in the eyes of the Harriers boss, in three starts at left-back, his displays as another young member of a growing side enough to convince Yates he is worth keeping.

He missed all of last season with a anterior cruciate knee ligament injury, soon after earning his first pro contract with Albion, so will be looking to grow in fitness as well as experience as the season wears on.

Yates is currently locked in talks with Albion to make the deal happen.

He said: "We are speaking to West Brom at the moment and hopefully that will be sorted soon. We are just awaiting on confirmation really. It is not done and dusted yet but we don't expect any problems.

"Lee has done well for us and that is why we want him here for longer. He is young, bright and hungry and that is the type of player we want at this football club."
