Legault has had surgery to wire his broken jaw and to return to the saddle would be too much of a risk.

BRC Roofing Brummies boss Graham Drury is now looking for a new signing.

Mildenhall have had a nightmare season and are on the verge of going into the record books as one of the worst teams in British Speedway history.

But they arrive at Perry Barr with ex-Brummie Lee Smart in their side – and Pavel Staszek is a new signing with a bright future ahead.

Drury said: "Mildenhall are one of my former clubs but there will be no room for sentiment, we want a big win for Birmingham.

"It's a big shame about Kyle, you have to feel sorry for the lad after he defied the doctors and came back from a broken femur.

"We now have to try and replace him."

Birmingham: Tomasz Piszcz, Ben Taylor, Jason Lyons, Kyle Legault R/R, Craig Watson, James Cockle, Jay Herne.

Mildenhall: Sebastian Truminski, Lee Smart, Pavel Staszek, Casper Wortmann, Jan Graversen, TBC, Barrie Evans.
