A defensive horror show in a 4-2 defeat at Mansfield last weekend was their second loss in back-to-back away games starting with Cambridge, after a draw with Lewes on the opening day.

Encouragingly, the Harriers have scored in all three games. With Altrincham next in town on Saturday, Yates is hoping they will meet a side in renewed vigour and not the side that collapsed at the back in the first half at Field Mill.

He said: "It has been a disappointing start and we need to kickstart the season. For me that started on Monday, when we got on the training pitch and looked at the things that have cost us, and goes straight through to our next game on Saturday.

"We had a good look at the video on Monday. We gifted them three goals in the first half and you cannot do that at this level. That was down to a bit of a defender cohesion if you like but as a team we didn't defend properly.

"We have been okay in all three games but defensively it has cost us. We have not had a problem in front of goal but we have got to keep clean sheets. We will never do anything otherwise.

"I told them at half-time at Mansfield: show me what your about in the second half and we showed tremendous character thereafter. It was much more like what I am after and much more like what we should be about."
