Wolves manager Peter Adams was left to bemoan a lack of consistency in the team as two points went begging against Lakeside.
He said: "By the time we got to five heats every one of our team had either won a race or had a paid win. That's an amazing statistic.
"But we just don't hold it together. With a team like this you can't carry any passengers. David Howe and Ales Dryml's performances in particular were hugely disappointing.
"If you're looking at a reason why we lost , I don't think you need to look any further than that. Everybody's got to contribute – and they didn't.
"I thought after last week that Swindon were a more difficult proposition here than Lakeside. For once we actually expected to win tonight.
"After we were eight up with that early performance, I thought the writing was on the wall for Lakeside.
"But we just lose our way in the middle of a match and there's no confidence in the team."
