The Harriers were left disappointed after the final whistle in their latest pre-season friendly at Marston Road, probably not most by the 1-0 defeat, but also losing defender Luke Jones to a nasty facial injury.

He will be assessed by the medical staff at Aggborough today, while Yates just wants to get the whole evening out of his mind.

He said: "It is a game probably best forgotten now. I would rather we got this kind of performance out of our systems now, as apposed to when the season starts.

"We'll bin it after tonight and move on, but it's a pretty steep learning curve for some of the players. We were nowhere near the standards we've set ourselves earlier in pre-season."

The Harriers manager also confirmed that they will be making decisions on which of the trialists at the club they will offer terms to over the next few days.

He said: "It is just a case of sitting down with the chairman and working out which ones we can get and which ones we can't. We want to try and keep as many of those if we can and if we can, who knows?"

"'I am hoping to get a number of these players signed because we've been very impressed with them. There are still one or two other things happening as well. We will have to see what we can do."
