The match at the Grove is Rangers' second pre-season friendly, after a 1-0 defeat at Rocester last week, and an improved level of competition should provide a stern test for Bully's boys.

This is exactly what the manager wants at his stage of their preparations, counting down to the big kick-off in the Blue Square North against Farsley on August 9.

He said: "Rocester was mainly a fitness exercise and I want the players to prove their fitness again to me tonight.

"Nonetheless, it is time players started proving to me that they are worth a place. While most players only got a half last time, the starting line-up will get at least 70 minutes this time out.

"I want a good performance from the boys tonight against what is likely to be a strong Halesowen side. I will take a lot from what they show me."

Stafford will definitely miss Ishamel Reid, who is on holiday, and Dolapo Olaoye, who is thought to be on his way out of Marston Road.

Bull has also added another pre-season friendly to the schedule at Midland Combination outfit Heath Hayes on Monday, specifically to give the fringe members of the squad and the trial players on loan at the club a chance to impress.

Bull added: "I have been planning to do this for a week, so I am glad Heath Hayes are able to help us with this.

"This gives the chance to look at the trialists we have and gives the fringe members of the squad a chance to put themselves into my thoughts."
