Last weekend's three-wicket win against Knowle & Dorridge, which included a stunning return of 3-7 from man-of-the-match Sairaj Bahutule, saw them take a 12-point lead at the summit.

It is an advantage which could grow further when they host West Bromwich Dartmouth as top meet bottom.

Although he insists their success has come as no shock in their own dressing room, Lycett admits his team have proved to be the surprise package this campaign.

They have only just been promoted back to the top flight and for that reason expectations are being kept in check.

He said: "It's our first season back in the Premier League so there's no pressure on my team to finish in the top three or four this year.

"We see any game as a tough contest. There are a number of teams that should be finishing in the top three like Walsall, Himley and Barnt Green.

"We are a surprise package this year. It's not a surprise to us because we know we have a strong team.

"Perhaps it has come as more of a surprise to our rivals."

Lycett puts their success down to the balance and team ethic within his side.

He said: "Right now we are top and enjoying it. I think potentially sides do raise their game against the side that are top

"We are not thinking about finishing there. It's still relatively early stages, nothing is won in June."
