Relegation-struck Stafford Rangers are about to launch a massive campaign to fill seats for the start of the club's first season back in the Blue Square North league.

Initiatives include visiting 200 schools in the area over coming weeks, giving away free tickets to youngsters and taking on two high-flying sales reps to boost advertising revenue.

And on Wednesday the directors will go face to face with the fans in a public question time at the Marston Road Club.

Director Reg Bates says Steve Bull will also have a major role to play in the bid to boost attendances at the ground.

He stressed: "The board is 100 percent behind Steve and will support him in whatever way we can. It is all about getting into the community," he said. "Getting amongst the people and getting them interested in and involved with the club. The questions and answers session is something the supporters have been asking for for a long time," added Mr Bates. "So we have decided to give them the opportunity."

The session will take place in the club's Lotus Suite starting at 7.30pm but Bull is not able to be present.

He will be with the directors on Tuesday when they meet pupils of Cooper Perry, in Seighford, Doxey and Tillington Manor primary schools.

"From there we are hoping to go on to visit around 200 schools during the next couple of months. Training starts in earnest on Tuesday so Steve won't necessarily be with us, and it won't always be directors," said Mr Bates.

"But our aim is to get a representative from the club into every school in the area and we will be giving out free tickets for youngsters to come along to Marston Road. They will have to be with a paying adult, so that way we can get the dads or older brothers involved as well."

Mr Bates said it was about raising the profile of the club and getting more spectators into the ground. "We want to fill the stands up and Steve will play a major role in that.

"He is a very popular man, a hero in Wolverhampton, and I am sure that will help bring people in."

That help includes a friendly against the Wolves at Marston Road on August 5.
