In-form Cherries to test Saddlers

Walsall manager Richard Money is facing mounting injury worries ahead of tomorrow's Banks's clash with crisis club Bournemouth.

The match has huge significance at both ends of the table and although Walsall could close the gap on rivals Leeds in the race for sixth place, Bournemouth are facing an uncertain future.

The Cherries latest takeover bid fell through earlier this week and should they lose at the Banks's and Crewe beat Cheltenham at home, they would be relegated to League Two.

Despite their off-field problems, Bournemouth are in fine form on the pitch, having won four in a row and Walsall's attempt to stop them winning five in a row, for the first time since the Jermain Defoe days in 2001, is severely hampered by a squad that is down to the bare bones.

In addition to the loss of defenders Ian Roper and Paul Boertien, Money has issues in midfield as Alassane N'Dour has become the latest to succumb to injury.

"It looks like N'Dour has picked up a knee and a hip problem and he won't be available at the weekend," Money said.

"Mark Bradley has been in this morning, but he's been in bed all week ill, so he's doubtful as well. And we will be without Wrack and Moore, who both have calf problems, so we're stretched, but we'll get on with it and put out the best team that we can out on the pitch."

Money is well aware of the kind of form the Cherries are in and knows it will be a very difficult task to get the three points that they desperately need to maintain their play-off hopes.

"Bournemouth have won five out of six and are the form team in the division," Money said. "Over 46 games, you're always going to meet teams who at the top of their form at some stage and we are having a run of them at the minute.

"This is going to be another tough game and they are still harbouring thoughts that they can get out of trouble and five wins out of six suggests that they might be able to."

Money also paid tribute to rival boss Kevin Bond.

"I think you've got to give tremendous credit to the manager and the players for the way that they have responded to what's happened at their football club this year," Money said.

"I was absolutely amazed when I read that some of the people that were proposing a takeover had said that they couldn't assure Kevin Bond's future."

"To me that absolutely beggars belief; it just really gives you an indication of where this game is going - I'm sorry but I really believe that, because he's done a fantastic job."

Young striker Sam Vokes has been attracting admiring glances from clubs including Newcastle, Villa and Celtic and Money knows all about the threat he poses.

"He's a young Welsh under-21 centre forward, who we know quite a bit about because he plays in the same team as Mark Bradley and he's a big strong young player," Money said.
