Bully axes three Rangers players
Steve Bull has continued his Marston Road clearout by sending three more Stafford Rangers players on their way.
Steve Bull has continued his Marston Road clearout by sending three more Stafford Rangers players on their way.
One of those released is Northern Ireland under-21 international Matt Hazley.
Hazley was brought on loan by Phil Robinson earlier in the season when he was a Stoke City player and was then signed by caretakers Kevin Street and Neil Grayson after being released by the Potters.
Midfielder Hazley has made nine starts for Rangers since January, and his last game was at Altrincham on Easter Monday.
Also shown the door are Courtney Shaw, scorer of the winning goal in Rangers' only home league victory so far this season and Keenan Meakin-Richards.
Bull said: "We need to ship some players out to make room in the squad for players coming in."
The Rangers boss blooded his latest recruit, Jonathan Loukes at the weekend, but it was his first signing, Nick Wellecomme, who netted in the 2-1 defeat by Aldershot.
The reverse plunged Rangers nearer the drop from the Blue Square Premier, but Bull was upbeat about the performance:
"We were a bit unlucky. We matched them stride for stride and today the players have shown the fans what they can actually do," he said after the game.
"We're creating the chances now and the players know what we're about.
"Two stupid errors have cost us and we need to clamp down on that, but the lads need a win or a draw to boost their confidence."
