Mick Keene (Sensas Total Angling) is back on top form at Springlea, and took the overall top prize in the two day Easter festival, as well as winning the mid week open at the venue.
Thursdays match was fished as a rover and Mick decided to get out of the wind by dropping in on peg 16 on the Kingfisher, a choice which paid off well, as he was able to make the most of both long and short pole lines, to take skimmers, tench and carp for 64-7-8.
Mike Williams (STA) opted for peg 37 on the Mallard and had carp to 6lbs at 12 metres and close in to scale 42-6-8 for second, and third also came from the Mallard when Kev Sudlow (Morgans Angling) found 23-14-0 close in at peg 15.
Kev Pilsbury (STA) is another man in form at Springlea, and he took charge of the Saturday open on the Mallard, making the best haul of the week, 69-11-8.
Most of his fish came in the second half of the match, and took him past Mike Williams, who had to settle for second again, having looked a likely winner early on. Mike finished on 48-8-0, some way in front of Colin England (Hodnet) on 21-6-0 in third.
Robbie Griffiths (STA) made the best start to the two day event, winning day one from peg 13 on the Mallard.
He had to work hard for it though, fishing the pole at 14.5 metres, to offer pellet and corn in blustery conditions for 58-4-0 of small carp.
Down on the Horseshoe pool Keene put together 51-9-0 at peg six, alternating pellet at 12 metres with paste at 6 metres to take second on the day.
Pilsbury was in the frame again, adding a third to his win of the previous day. He was also on the Horseshoe, and had 37-11-8 on corn at peg 2. Fourth came from the Mallard when Arthur Wood (Morgans) scaled 28-13-0 at peg 10.
Second day honours went to Kev Sudlow (Morgans) who caught from the off at peg two on the Horseshoe with corn and pellet at 13 metres. His 57-4-0 was easily enough to hold off Keene, but his 39-11-0 Mallard best for second again gave him an unbeatable 91-4-0 in the overall list.
Third on the day went to Pete Farrall (Stadco) on 32-90 at peg 19 on the Horseshoe, and Mike Buttery (Wem) picked up fourth with a tip caught 26-2-8 at Mallard 16. Second overall went to Robbie Griffiths and third to Pilsbury.
