Bully admits Rangers are down

Steve Bull today admitted Stafford Rangers are as good as relegated but wants to go down fighting.

Yesterday's 2-0 defeat at Altrincham left Rangers 14 points from safety with nine games left and they are now three defeats away from dropping back to the Blue Square North.

"Realistically, everyone thinks we're down, but we won't be waving the white flag until it's mathematically certain," said Bull.

"I still want to give the Stafford supporters something good to watch and come here to shout about."

And the Wolves legend revealed he's hoping there will be more transfer comings and goings before the weekend clash with leaders Aldershot Town.

"I need players for next season and some of the lads here aren't doing it," he added.

"There willl hopefully be some players coming in and others leaving."

Yesterday's defeat at Altrincham, saw leading scorer Colin Little net a first-half brace and Bull admitted staying up has become an almost impossible task.

"It's disappointing," he said. "I said to the players before they kicked a ball yesterday that this is the game that will keep us in the league.

"Fourteen points is a long way to get back. The players know that as well and they are as disappointed as I am."

Bull needs to quickly lift his side as they entertain runaway Blue Square Premier leaders Aldershot Town on Saturday at Marston Road.

"I said to the players that I could be horrible and get them in to training tonight," he added.

"But I'll let them have a rest and see what they can do on Saturday."

Bull is desperate for a lift for his side, who have taken just one point from 18 and scored just twice in six games since he officially took charge on March 1.

Crowds have also dropped from a seasonal best 1,852 for his first game against Farsley to 905 against Torquay, and the Wolves legend is still searching for his first goal at Marston Road.
