Hednesford 3 Matlock Town 1

Hednesford came from behind to beat basement side Matlock.

Boosted by new right-back Daniel McLeod from Brereton Social, Phil Starbuck's side were good value for three points.

The Pitmen's Anthony Maguire had a header deflected away before Ross Dyer's effort flew over.

Hednesford had claims for a penalty rejected after Alan Nagington's flick appeared to catch a defender's hand, before Chad Sheppard was just wide.

But Matlock still posed a threat and Wayne Dyer was forced into a tremendous tackle to deny Matthew Thorpe.

Then keeper Paul Evans, who had been a spectator for the first half hour, blocked a powerful angled shot from Simon Barrowclough.

Normal service was resumed when Sheppard hit the bar.

But Matlock took the lead against the run of play from the spot when Barrowclough sent Evans the wrong way in the 39th minute after Reuben Wiggins-Thomas tumbled under challenge from Ross Adams.

Stung by the goal, the Pitmen's Rob Davies had a shot deflected away before Ross Dyer headed wide.

The hosts deservedly levelled from a penalty with the last kick of the half from Sheppard after Fearon's trip on Nagington.

Hednesford were in front on 50 when Anthony Maguire scored from close range after Richmond was unable to hold onto Davies's shot.

The Pitmen had another penalty shout rejected when Richmond bundled over Nagington trying to hold Sheppard's free kick.

Hednesford got their third on 55 when Davies fired through the keeper's legs after Ross Dyer drove at their defence.
