Chasetown boss Charlie Blakemore landed his 100th league victory in charge of the Scholars.
Early on it had looked as if it was going to be one of those nights for the Scholars as Nick Hawkins shot beat stand in keeper Thornton only for the ball to hit both posts and rebound back into the arms of the reserve team keeper.
Thornton was thrust into action after regular keeper Findley injured his shoulder in the pre-match warm up.
But the reserve keeper was celebrating in the 35th minute when Woodford's first shot on goal, a rasping 30 yard rocket from Ber-wick, went in off the bar.
But after a Blakemore half-time talk the visitors wasted no time in getting back into the game.
Defender Joe Williams showed the strikers the way to goal stabbing the ball in on 50 minutes. Then two goals in two minutes changed the game.
Dean Perrow got back in the groove to give the visitors the lead in the 65th minute and in the 67th minute Craig Holland headed home a free kick.
United pulled one back in the 81st minute through Corrigan who pounced to score from close range.
But the two goal lead was restored three minutes later and it was Williams who celebrated scoring two goals in a game for the first time.
