Yeltz missed a golden early chance when home goalkeeper Scott Howie parried Darren Caskey's shot and made a splendid save after the rebound fell for Dean Brennan.

Stuart Pierpoint's well struck goal-bound 29th minute shot was then cleared off the line by Mark Camm.

After their nervy start, the Linnets were awarded a free-kick on the edge of Halesowen's six-yard box following David Perpetuini's back-pass but Pierpoint bravely charged down Gavin Hoyte's strike.

King's Lynn came out strongly to win the midfield battle at the start of the keenly contested second period with the Yeltz unable to use their front-running pace.

The Linnets took a 55th minute lead when Jack Defty headed back at the far post for Rikki Bains to head home for a goal on his debut.

Halesowen almost fell 2-0 behind three minutes later but Jack Defty's shot struck the inside of the post and Joe Francis screwed the rebound wide of an empty net.

But the Yeltz stuck to their task with Brennan striking wide twice before the reward of a vital 85th minute equaliser when substitute Patrick Peters' header was cleared off the line from Davion Hamilton's corner.

The ball came out for Caskey to rifle in a 22-yard drive with the ball deflecting off Jay Denny's chest to beat Howie and preserve an excellent record at the Walks Stadium.
