Rushall 1 Romulus 0

Rushall Olympic's concerted push towards the top half of the table and a potential crack at the promotion play-off places gathered momentum at Dales Lane.

It took Rushall until the 25th minute to register their first worthwhile effort as Craig Marshall faced up to his marker, before feigning left and right to create some space for himself on the right face of the 18-yard box and proceeded to drive the ball low and hard past the foot of the far post.

The second period continued in very much the same vein to that of the first with both sides expending most of their energies in midfield toil.

The hosts sprang and huge surprise on their guests when from out of nowhere a ball played into Junior Brown was headed into the path of Neil Barnfield some 25 yards out and in a flash the midfielder executed a breathtaking volley that rocketed past the stunned Romulus keeper.
