He will be replaced by former Wolves assistant physio Steve Kemp, who left Molineux for Preston two years ago.

Holmes joined Wolves under former manager Graham Taylor and has been part of the club for the last 13 years.

The physio is set to join another club but neither he nor Wolves would identify the side involved.

Holmes said: "I've been here a long time and made many friends over the years. But it's time to move on to pastures new.

"I wish the club and everyone here every success for the future."

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey added Kemp will take over as Head of Medical Services on Monday.

Moxey said: "Barry is the longest serving member of the backroom team and his contribution, under six different managers, has been greatly appreciated.

"He feels the time is right to move on and we wish him well in the future."

Moxey said Kemp would be an excellent addition to the staff.

He said: "Steve was a popular member of the football department and left us to take up a number one position at Preston.

"He is highly qualified and highly regarded in the industry."
