Thick fog, which had quickly descended during the early stages of the second half, forced the abandonment of a finely-balanced game.

Rangers were disappointed as they were still confident of following up Saturday's victory with at least a point here.

Caretaker-managers Neil Grayson and Kevin Street named an unchanged line-up which meant defender Djimi Sangare returned from suspension with only a place on the bench.

A long throw from Adrian Cambridge led to an early chance for the home side. The Stafford defence couldn't get the ball clear but Antonio Murray headed weakly at Danny Alcock.

Decent scoring opportunities were scarce in an even contest until Histon keeper Danny Naisbitt dived to his right to hold a low 30-yard shot from Street.

Histon were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the Stafford area. Gareth Gwillim played the ball short to Cambridge, who forced a fine block out of Alcock.

Just before the interval, Alcock did well again to keep out a close-range shot from Jack Midson.

Midson also fired across the face of the Stafford goal early in the second half.

Arnolin narrowly missed with a long-range lob and Alcock held a looping header from Nathaniel Knight-

Percival and those turned out to be the final chances of a shortened game.
