Stour striker irreplacable
Stourbridge boss Gary Hackett admits striker Mark Bellingham will prove "impossible to replace".
The Glassboys signed Stourport forward Ryan Broadhurst this week to bolster their attacking options – in addition to capturing Chasetown striker Lee Bullimore last week.
They need numbers up front, what with top scorer Bellingham ruled out for the rest of the season with medial knee ligament damage – but Hackett says he can't see anyone replicating his impact.
Bellingham is the league's top scorer with 22 goals this season and Hackett is calling on the rest of his team to start chipping in to make up the predicted short fall.
"Finding a direct replacement for Mark is going to be incredibly difficult. He's the best goalscorer in the division and to bring anyone in and expect him to replicate his impact is unreasonable," he said.
"Lee and Ryan will be good players for us, I'm sure, but it is up to the rest of the squad to step up and start scoring goals.
"We need to get them from other areas and if we can do that, then hopefully we can minimise the loss of Mark."
Hackett managed to beef up his squad with the signing of Stourbridge's young striker Broadhurst this week.
The Glassboys boss believes he has invested in potential with the forward – but will be looking to bed him in over the coming weeks.
"We're going to take a look at him – we think we're bringing someone in who has potential and hopefully he can be a player for us."
The Glassboys have dropped down the division after seeing their league programme hit by weather problems but Hackett is unconcerned about falling.
"I've said it before, but all I'm interested in the moment is trying to get as many points as we can.
"We're not bothered about league positions now, because it won't matter until the last six games of the season."
