Rushall keep play-off hopes
Rushall Olympic assistant manager Chris Brindley believes they can still make the play-offs, despite their fixture congestion.
The Dales Lane outfit are currently seven games behind the League leaders in terms of games played, due to their various cup exploits and postponements, but their interest in the trophies ended on Tuesday when they went out of the Birmingham Senior Cup.
The Pics were beaten 6-2 by a near full strength Burton Albion at the semi-final stage and can now concentrate on catching up on their League programme.
"They put out a strong side,"
Brindley said. "We were four goals down and we could have capitulated altogether, but we did well in the second half.
"You're never going to beat sides like Burton Albion really when they name a full-strength team.
"That's finally it for us now as far as the cups are concerned. We've been competitive in every cup competition this year and done well.
"We've got lots of league games to play, so we'll concentrate on them, but we've got a horrendous run-in, really. By the end of it all we will have played roughly 60 games this season.
"We've got a midweek game each week now until the middle of April and obviously if we get any more called off we'll be playing two midweek games.
"At our level you haven't got the resources or a massive squad, so we'll have to cross that bridge when we come to it.
"Because of the level we're at, we enter the FA Cup and the FA Trophy at the preliminary stage and if you do have a run in those competitions, it can cause these fixture problems.
"We're not out of the race totally.
"I don't think many people would expect us to reach the play-offs but that is still the target with a lot of games left and a lot of points to play for.
"It's important that we remain within touching distance of the top five or six and we want to finish as high up as possible, but we are playing catch-up."
