Rushall boss expects reaction

Rushall Olympic manager Paul Holleran expects the side to bounce back after defeat by Chasetown on Boxing Day.

Rushall lost 1-0 to end a run of three victories which had put them in a good position in the table, given the fact they are up to eight matches behind some of the other sides in the division in terms of games played.

"Leading up to Christmas we'd had three good results," Holleran said.

"We had a good 4-0 win over Malvern last weekend, but the Boxing Day match was very disappointing."

"The two sides more or less cancelled each other out. They scored from a free-kick that bobbled around in the box.

"There were no shots on target from either side from open play for the entire 90 minutes.

"I don't remember ever being involved in a match like that before.

"They had the best of the first half and we dominated the second, but for all our presence we couldn't find that final ball.

"The match lacked a bit of quality and they defended very well. Defences were on top and both holding midfielders did their job.

"It was a typical Boxing Day fixture – full of effort and commitment, but we just couldn't find a way through.

"We'll bounce back. We've got Willenhall on New Year's Day. I was surprised at their result on Boxing Day, so they'll be looking to improve.

"I've got Rich Beale back in the squad for that one and we'll be looking to push on."

Holleran also confirmed there will soon be some news on midfielder Lee Williams' eye injury.

"Lee is going back to the specialist next week."
