Harriers were left fuming as they lost 2-0 at home to Oxford a month ago and had striker James Constable sent off for an elbow he still denies.

And Yates believes his side head to the Kassam Stadium with a point to prove.

Yates said: "We owe Oxford for a month ago. There were a few things that went on that we weren't happy with."

Harriers extended their unbeaten run to four matches on Boxing Day with a 2-2 draw at Forest Green but they were left disappointed after twice taking the lead only to be pegged back on each occasion.

And Yates admitted he needs to pick his side up for their next match.

"We have a disappointed dressing room, which is good," said the Harriers manager.

"We set ourselves a target of nine points over the christmas period and we're two down already.

"The attitude and performance was superb and we can take a lot of positives out of the game, but the bottom line is that we are bitterly disappointed to have taken the lead twice and not won.

"We're disappointed with Forest Green's second goal."

And Yates has played down a row between team mates Gavin Hurren and Michael Blackwood after Forest Green's second goal that saw both men booked.

"I didn't see the incident from where I was," he said. "The lads apologised to each other in the dressing room.

"I don't mind them showing their passion and commitment but if it oversteps the mark and they get reds cards I wouldn't have been happy."
