Rushall Olympic manager Paul Holleran is hoping that his side have started a run that will put them in touch of the play-offs.

Rushall won their second successive game last weekend with a 2-0 victory at Stourport Swifts and have up to seven matches in hand over some of their higher-placed league rivals.

The fixture backlog is due to a combination of poor weather and a good cup run and Holleran believes that the league picture will become much clearer in the New Year when the backlog clears and his side have started to make up for some lost time.

"It's always a worry with the weather, but we need to keep as many players fit as we can and take one game at a time," Holleran said.

"We've won a couple on the bounce now and if we can pick up some more points over Christmas, come February time we could be in with a chance."

"If we can keep nibbling away and get the gap down to six or seven points we could have a realistic chance of the play-offs."

Of the victory over Swifts, Holleran said: "We needed that one. It was a tough game.

"We've put a couple of victories together and we're getting a few people back on the pitch now.

"It was a tricky game against a team with a new manager, who put up a good fight, so I'm pleased.

You have to work hard for any three points in this league, so we need to keep it going."

Holleran also revealed that midfielder Lee Williams is on the mend slowly but surely, after his eye injury.

"I went to see him on Monday at home and he's getting bits of his sight back now.

"His vision is blurred, but he's starting to see lights and shapes.

"He has to visit a specialist in January and we can't give a total guarantee until then, but there has been an improvement." The manager also confirmed that he is hoping to renew the loan of Harry Harris from Walsall, after the player's initial spell with the club expired.
