Stourbridge manager Gary Hackett has explained how an out of the ordinary incident led to a late change of plans last weekend.

The Glassboys were inconvenienced prior to the 3-2 defeat at Chasetown by the late withdrawal of Ryan Mahon under unusual circumstances.

"Ryan had an accident at home with a generator," Hackett said. "He was overcome by fumes and we didn't find out until 12 o'clock."

The former Bromsgrove Rovers midfielder made a full recovery however and was available to face Bedworth today.

Hackett was disappointed that his side's ten match winning streak was brought to an end by FA Cup heroes Chasetown, but was philosophical in defeat. "We were on a great run previously, but you've got to lose sometime," he said. "We didn't play as well as we have been doing, but I didn't think there was that much between us and Chasetown.

I thought we shaded the first half and they shaded the second. I've got no argument about the penalties.

I thought that possibly their player could have been sent off for the handball, but sometimes you get decisions like that and sometimes you don't. That's football and we move on."

The Glassboys remain strong contenders for promotion despite the loss, but Hackett is refusing to get carried away with his team's promotion prospects.

"We're right up there," he said. "We've done very well after a poor start, but it doesn't mean that much at this stage of the season. "If any team puts five or six results together in this league they can move up the table very quickly."

The manager also revealed that he is keeping an eye out for potential signings, but wouldn't be drawn on specific targets.

"I am looking in one area, but I don't want to say which player or players I'm after because I don't want to alert other clubs.

"I prefer to put a seven day offer in and announce it afterwards."
