Wolves conceded three goals in the first half as they slumped to defeat against Burnley.

Mick McCarthy's men fell behind in the 20th minute when Wayne Hennessey allowed Robbie Blake's free kick to squirm past him into the net.

By that stage Burnley, who came into the game on the back of three straight away wins, had already hit the post through Alan Mahon.

Wolves were on level terms inside six minutes when Darron Gibson converted Stephen Ward's low cross at the back post for his first senior goal.

But that only spurred on Owen Coyle's side who regained the lead through Wolves target Kyle Lafferty.

And four minutes before the break Clarke Carlisle's header deflected off Darren Ward's arm and into the net.

The home side halved the deficit on 57 minutes when Stephen Elliott scored from the spot after Andy Gray had fouled Seyi Olofinjana.

But despite throwing on Freddy Eastwood and Andy Keogh, McCarthy's team could not force an equaliser and remain in sixth place in the table.
