Stourbridge urged to power on

Gary Hackett has urged his in-form Stourbridge side not to take their foot off the gas when they take on Bishop's Cleeve tomorrow.

Stourbridge won at Buxton for the second time in a week to add an FA Trophy win to their FA Cup victory.

The Glassboys have recorded a remarkable eight straight league wins to soar to second place in the league, but boss Hackett reckons there is no danger of complacency in his squad.

The latest win was a superb 1-0 win over promotion rivals Sutton Coldfield – but Hackett feels his side have not proved anything yet.

"I've told the lads to enjoy the run while we can. You can go through a whole career in football and never put together a run of form like this – so we should make the most of it," he said.

"But football has a habit of knocking you down as soon as you think you've cracked it – and we know that as well as anyone after what happened last season.

"Bishop's Cleeve are a dangerous side who are just outside the play-offs but we're at home and playing well, so we've got to be confident."

The midweek win was terrific and I think the defence has to take some of the praise for that."
